Questions & Answer

Q: Can I send an E-mail message to all of my students using SISS?

A: Yes, you can. If you have a reporting person in your area, he or she can pull E-mail addresses for all of your students. Otherwise, you can get an Excel file containing your students' E-mail addresses from the Registrar's Office.

You then have several options. You could:

  1. Copy and paste all of the addresses into the "To" line of an E-mail message, or
  2. Send to OIT if it's a large number (for instructions on how to do this, refer to the document "Sending Group E-mail and E-Mail Merge), or
  3. Do a mail merge in Word, but instead fo merging to a new document, merge to electronic mail. If you do this, you can include merge fields in your letter, such as each student's first name, making the messages more personalized. To to this, refer to the documentation "Configuring Outlook for E-mail Merge" and "Sending Group E-Mail and E-Mail Merge." This can be a bit tricky at first, so please call Kathleen Walchle or Patricia Hatch at the SISS Office if you need assistance.
